How it works
Find someone local, or be the one they find
Local Agents is a New Zealand directory of professionals and businesses. One search, one enquiry, and the people who do that work in your area come back to you.
If you are looking for someone
-
Search by what you need and where you are
Pick a service and a location. Results are the providers who say they cover that work in that area — not everyone who paid the most.
-
Compare profiles side by side
Experience, services, areas covered, opening hours and reviews from people who have used them. Save the ones you like; that list stays in your own browser.
-
Send one enquiry to up to 5 of them
Write what you need once. Each provider you picked gets it separately, so nobody sees who else you asked.
-
They come back to you
Replies and quotes arrive by email. From there you deal with the provider directly — Local Agents is not a party to the work or the payment.
If you provide a service
-
Create your listing
Free to start. You write your own profile: what you do, the categories and areas you cover, your hours, photographs of your work.
-
An administrator reviews it
Nothing appears in search results until a person has read the application. This is a check on the listing, not a warranty of the work.
-
Enquiries arrive in your dashboard
With the customer's contact details, shown to you and to nobody else. You are told when a request went to other providers as well, so you know it is competitive.
-
Reply, quote, and win the work
Answer from the dashboard or ring them. Paid plans give your listing more prominence; they never change what customers can see or say about you.
See what the plans cost — listing is free to start.
What we check — and what we don't
A person checks these
- Every provider application. Nobody appears in search results until an administrator has read what they wrote.
- Every review. A review names a real business, so none is published until someone has read it.
- Changes to a live listing. Edits are held as a draft and go public only when the provider publishes them.
We do not check these
- Qualifications and licences, as a rule. They are shown as the provider stated them. Where we have checked one against a public register, that profile says so and says when — and if it does not say it, we have not.
- The quality of the work. An approved listing is not a recommendation, and a verified badge is an identity check rather than a judgement of competence.
- The price you are quoted. What you agree is between you and the provider. For work where a licence is legally required, ask to see it before it starts.
Our Terms of Use say the same in more detail, and the Privacy Policy describes what the system actually does with your details.
Common questions
Does it cost anything to find a provider?
No. Searching, comparing and sending an enquiry are free, and there is no account to create. Providers pay to list; you never do.
Are the providers on here checked?
Every application is read by an administrator before the listing goes live, and every review is read before it is published. Qualifications and licences are shown as the provider stated them. Where we have checked one against a public register the profile says so, and says when — if it does not say that, treat the credential as their claim and ask to see it.
Who sees my contact details?
Only the providers you chose to send the enquiry to. We do not sell them, and this site runs no advertising or analytics trackers. Enquiries are deleted automatically after 24 months.
Can I leave a review?
Yes, on any provider's profile. A review is a public statement about a named business, so it is read by a person before it appears rather than published automatically.
